History

The Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill are among the most important archaeological sites of Ancient Rome. The Colosseum was inaugurated in 80 CE under Emperor Titus and hosted gladiatorial contests and public spectacles for centuries. The Roman Forum served as the political, religious, and commercial center of the city, where temples, basilicas, and government buildings shaped Roman public life. According to legend, Palatine Hill is where Rome was founded by Romulus in 753 BCE and later became the residence of emperors. Together, these iconic landmarks tell the story of Rome's rise from a small settlement to the capital of a vast empire.
